Building the Future Workforce: Skills, Capacity and Delivery Performance

11:30 - 12:00

Greater Manchester’s construction sector is expanding, but workforce capacity, skills reform and productivity pressures remain key constraints on delivery.

This session explores how workforce challenges are directly impacting project performance, from programme certainty and cost control to productivity on site. Chris Fletcher will share insight from the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), highlighting what employers are reporting and where gaps remain. Tom Higgins will provide a contractor perspective on how workforce availability, capability and stability influence delivery risk and commercial outcomes on live projects.

Designed for contractors, developers and supply chain partners, this session offers a strategic view of how skills and workforce capacity are shaping the ability to deliver work across the region — and what businesses should be factoring into their planning.
